Lester Claravall – Oklahoma Department of Labor
According to federal studies, approximately 200,000 teens under 18 are injured on the job across the United States. Of this figure, 77,000 cases are serious injuries in which 70 cases are fatal. According to NIOSH research, a young worker is twice as likely as adults 25 years of age and over to get injured while on the job. Furthermore, young workers are injured at work every nine minutes. This session will review the federal and state youth employment laws and safety guidelines when it comes to the employment of young workers.
